Let’s try this again:
I’ve been in the design, retail and apparel industry for fifteen years and on paper you will read that I have not had a linear journey due to an insatiable curiosity to learn. As far as “formal education” goes, I have two art degrees. They sometimes come in handy. A “fun fact” about me is that I really love early mornings and I also love trail running and combining the two is one of my favorite things to do.
I am currently the Vice President of Women’s & Men’s Merchandising at Beyond Yoga, which is a brand that is part of the Levi Strauss & Co. portfolio. It’s essentially an 18 year old start-up within a Fortune 500 company and every day I get to wear my creative hat… with my business blazer…over my yoga leggings.
2024 -
Prior to my new gig, I was the Director of Intimates, Shapewear, and Swim at SKIMS. I got to work with an incredible design and marketing team every day as we shaped the future of the fashion industry. I learned more about leadership here than I did when I was a camp counselor (2004-2006).
2023 - 2024
Previously, I was Director of Collaborations at Athleta. I worked on creating product and marketing strategies for top tier partners who are much more acclaimed than I am, such as Alicia Keys and Simone Biles.
2022-2023
Prior to this, I was Head of the Fine Jewelry Business at The RealReal. I learned a lot about what it takes to successfully run a business in the resale market and officially added “knowledgable about ‘scrap gold melt values’” to my resume.
2021-2022
Before that, I worked on Athleta’s Design Team focusing on Concept Design, Innovation and Design Strategy. It was a hybrid role where I got to mix art and science and do a lot of qualitative and quantitative research. I didn’t get to wear a lab coat, but I would have welcomed the opportunity should it have presented itself.
As much as I’d love to go on, in true innovation team form, I can’t exactly say how I did my work. Besides, we’re just getting to know each other anyway, so let’s take it slow…
2020-2021
Before that, I worked as a Concept Designer with the occasional freelance photography gig on the side.
2018-2020
Before that, I was a Merchandiser and Buyer whose business-oriented tendencies got the best of my frontal lobe’s control panel inside of my creative body. Who would have thought that someone with two art degrees could run a multi-million dollar business? Turns out you need a lot of creativity to run a successful one.
2013-2018
Before that, I was a Graphic Designer and Social Media Specialist in the golden age of Tinder launching and when six-second Vines reigned supreme.
2011-2013
Before that, I was folding clothes at PacSun, Abercrombie, and Ruehl. I was pretty good at it too.
2006-2011
Before that, I was a Summer Camp Counselor. I was less good at this and better at folding clothes.
2004-2006
And before all of that, and perhaps the most important thing to note, I was the kid and have always been the kid who got in trouble for asking too many questions.
